Dr. Suvenesh Prasad

Dr Prasad is a medical specialist in the speciality of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine. He graduated with Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery in 1997 from The University of the South Pacific. He then worked in Fiji as a junior doctor, until moving to Australia in 2001. His specialist training in Australia has been in various teaching hospitals in Brisbane. After initially working as a junior doctor at Logan Hospital, he completed his Basic Physician Training at Logan Hospital and The Princess Alexandra Hospital. After completing his FRACP examination in 2007, he trained in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine at The Prince Charles Hospital and Greenslopes Private Hospital. He completed his Adult Respiratory Medicine and Level 1 Adult Sleep Medicine training with a year of fellowship in Sleep Medicine at The Prince Charles Hospital. He was accepted as a Fellow of The Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2010.
Dr Prasad consults patients with all Respiratory and Sleep Disorders. HIs principal practice is at Greenslopes Specialist Centre, where he provides an outpatient consultation service for patients with Respiratory and Sleep disorders. He admits/consults patients with Respiratory and Sleep disorders at Greenslopes Private Hospital and has a regular Bronchoscopy list, but is able to do urgent bronchoscopies outside of the regular list.
His major interest in Sleep disorders is management of Sleep Apnoea (including non CPAP based treatments). He consults patients who have had sleep studies to discuss the results and treatment options (including patients having difficulties with CPAP), as well as patients who are being assessed for sleep disorders. He refers patients for quality sleep studies with no out-of-pocket fees, and promptly reviews patients with results.
Dr Prasad has now started consulting patients with Respiratory and Sleep Disorders at Suite 21, Sunnybank Private Sessional Suites, 245 McCullough Street, Sunnybank. Referrals for both the Greenslopes and Sunnybank clinics are through fax or email (see contact details on this website) or via medical objects.
Continued medical education is a priority. He undertakes the MY CPD program with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians for ongoing medical education. He regularly attends various local and international educational meetings. Some of his professional memberships include the Royal Australian College of Physicians, Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand, Australasian Sleep Association and the American College of Chest Physicians.
Dr Prasad is actively involved in teaching, from medical students to preparing candidates for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians written and clinical examinations. He is a past examiner for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians Clinical Examination. He also conducts GP education talks.
He is a Senior Lecturer with the University Of Queensland School Of Medicine.
